This article analyses Vietnam’s engagement in major cross-border economic corridors in Southeast Asia, specifically the East-West Economic Corridor ( EWEC ), Southern Economic Corridor ( SEC ), and North-South Economic Corridor ( NSEC ). It examines how Vietnam leverages its geographic position to promote regional connectivity, trade, and economic integration. Using a mixed approach, this study identifies the opportunities and constraints faced by Vietnam, including uneven development, infrastructure gaps, and geopolitical tension. While some corridors, such as the SEC , benefit from strong economic hubs, others, such as the EWEC , lag due to peripheral positioning. The NSEC illustrates deepening but cautious cooperation with China, particularly in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative. The findings underscore the need for coordinated policy, institutional reform, and strategic diplomacy to fully realise the potential of the corridor.
