This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: The first objective is to investigate whether blood‐pressure‐lowering drug treatment is effective for the prevention of stroke, major vascular events, and dementia in patients with a history of stroke or TIAs, regardless of baseline blood pressure level. The second objective is to identify specific subgroups of patients in which secondary prevention with blood‐pressure‐lowering drug treatment is effective.
