Experimental investigation determines impact performance of ceramic and FRP composites, indicating material effectiveness.
This study conducts a series of ballistic impact tests on bare FRP composites, bare ceramics, and hybrid ceramic-composite samples under normal impact conditions to validate the proposed simulation model. The simulation results efficiently replicate the experimental measurements of projectile residual velocity, as well as the qualitative and quantitative damage analysis of the targets. The primary focus of this study is to determine the influence of projectile nose geometry (ogive, conical, and blunt) on the impact performance of Al2O3 95%-Kevlar 29/epoxy and Al2O3 95%-GFRP targets.
