Up-regulated gene-4 (URG4) is a novel putative oncogene that locates on the 7 p 13 of human chromosome. It has been shown that the amplification and overexpression of URG4 altered gene regulation in cell. The up-regulated URG4 involved in many biological functions such as cell growth, proliferation, invasion and metastasis, which played an important role in the process of tumorigenesis and development. In this review,we have summarized the progress that has been made in understanding the role of URG4 gene in different types of tumors.
