Study of surface and domain structure of pure and doped BaTi0₃crystals by Auger electron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy

Pure BaTi03 crystals have been studied by using a scanning electron microscope. After chemical etching of a surface layer some differences are seen. This was correlated to an Auger electron spectroscopy analysis, showing the different elements composing the surface. Similar study is in progress for iron, niobium or cobalt doped BaTi03 crystals.
