The homogeneous thermoelectric e.m.f. in nickel is examined for various tensions up to 8 kg. in a pure wire of diameter 1 mm. Analysis gives the new constants (Benedick coefficients) as functions of magnetic field and tension. An antisymmetric part of the e.m.f. with respect to the magnetization has been discovered. Evidence suggesting that the effect is controlled by the regularity (anisotropy) of arrangement of the microcrystals within the wire is given.
