Ionic conductivity in an oxide-coated cathode is regarded as due to the mobility of oxygen ions. The magnitude of the conductivity can be derived from the phenomenon of current decay in a pulsed diode. Results are consistent with those obtained by other methods. Some consideration is given to the relation between ionic conductance and diffusion, and it is shown that the decay phenomenon results from the interaction of these phenomena in a thin layer on the outer surface of the coating.
