When two neighbouring radiations are applied to a Hilger prism interferometer, an interference pattern of two sets of fringes is obtained. These sets can be arranged at different orientations, when a system of grey bands results from their intersection. Characteristics of these bands are described, and a theoretical consideration is given. The possibility of applying the effect to the resolution of spectral lines is discussed.
