Combined AVR+CABG may elevate perioperative MI risk; leaves open whether cross-clamp optimization mitigates injury in prospective trials.
Does combined AVR and CABG increase the incidence of ischemic myocardial injury compared to isolated AVR or CABG?
Combined AVR and CABG carries a higher risk of perioperative myocardial infarction (21%) compared to isolated procedures, with significantly increased risk when cross-clamp times exceed 70 minutes or fibrillation times exceed 2 hours.
