Parkin ablation may attenuate fission-defective cardiomyopathy in mice; leaves open its role as stress-responsive mitophagy modulator in human hearts.
In adult mice, Drp1 ablation induces lethal cardiomyopathy driven by Parkin-mediated hyper-mitophagy, which can be rescued by concomitant Parkin deletion.
