Highlights the unique challenges of performing TAVI in patients with severe aortic stenosis and porcelain aorta, particularly with coronary and carotid support.
Porcelain aorta may support TAVI consideration at low STS scores; single case leaves open optimal access and durability in larger cohorts.
Porcelain aorta is emerging as an important indication for Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) even when the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) scores are low. Good midterm results after TAVI in patients with porcelain aorta have been reported in patients with both transfemoral and transapical approach. There are unique challenges faced when TAVI is performed in porcelain aorta which are discussed in our case report.
