Educational game demonstrates marine biodiversity through strategic gameplay, suggesting interactive learning benefits.
PechTiSauThon – Tilapia, Salmon and Bluefin Tuna Fishing is an original two-player strategic and educational board game created by Doumbia Amara in Côte d’Ivoire. The game combines strategic thinking, mathematical reasoning, spatial awareness, decision-making, anticipation, and discovery of the marine environment within an interactive and playful experience. The game is built around two interconnected boards. The first is a strategic movement board, where players calculate and plan their movements using numerical values displayed on the board rather than relying on traditional dice-based randomness. The second represents a structured marine environment in which Tilapia, Salmon, and Bluefin Tuna move through different depth zones. This dual-board system creates a dynamic relationship between strategic decisions and changes in the marine environment. A major educational strength of PechTiSauThon is its learning-through-play approach. Players are encouraged to observe, calculate, compare possibilities, anticipate consequences, manage positions, and make strategic decisions before taking action. The movement system naturally introduces practical applications of counting, distance calculation, spatial reasoning, logical analysis, trajectory planning, and cause-and-effect relationships. The game also develops broader cognitive and personal skills, including concentration, memory, anticipation, problem-solving, adaptability, patience, perseverance, self-control, and respect for rules. Because players must continuously evaluate the consequences of their choices, the game transforms abstract mathematical and logical concepts into concrete situations that can be experienced through manipulation and experimentation. The marine theme adds an important scientific and environmental education dimension. Through the representation of Tilapia, Salmon, Bluefin Tuna, boats, depth zones, and fish movements, players are introduced to concepts related to aquatic species, marine environments, biodiversity, spatial organization, and the interaction between human activity and nature. The game therefore provides an opportunity to connect strategic gameplay with the discovery of the natural world. PechTiSauThon can potentially be used not only as an entertainment product but also as a complementary educational tool in schools, educational game clubs, science workshops, extracurricular activities, and environmental awareness programs. Its combination of strategy, calculation, spatial reasoning, experimentation, and marine discovery makes it suitable for educational contexts where learning is supported through active participation. The project is currently developed at an advanced conceptual stage, with its principal game structure, components, movement system, roles, marine environment, scoring principles, and educational objectives defined. Further development may include physical prototyping, playtesting, graphic development, balancing, ergonomic improvements, and professional publishing. This portfolio presents the general concept, game universe, components, mechanics, innovations, educational benefits, publishing potential, and investment potential of the project. It does not constitute the complete official rulebook; detailed technical rules and mechanisms may be made available to interested partners within an appropriate collaboration framework.
