Intraoperative arterial blood D-dimer levels >2056 mcg/L predicted early postoperative complications with 85.7% sensitivity and 85.3% specificity in patients with occlusive-stenotic aortoiliac lesions.
Why the study?
To assess the prognostic value of intraoperative D-dimer levels in peripheral venous and arterial blood for short-term complications following open reconstructive surgery on the aortoiliac segment.
Does intraoperative arterial D-dimer level predict early postoperative complications better than preoperative venous D-dimer in patients undergoing open reconstructive surgery on the aortoiliac segment?
Observational (n=89)

Intraoperative arterial D-dimer levels demonstrate strong prognostic value for predicting early postoperative complications in patients undergoing aortoiliac reconstructive surgery.
May predict short-term complications after aortoiliac surgery; hypothesis-generating and requires validation before clinical adoption.
The objective was to assess the prognostic value of D-dimer level in peripheral venous blood and arterial blood to the risk of developing complications in the short-term period after open reconstructive surgery on the aortoiliac segment. Methods and material s. The study included 89 patients who were determined the D-dimer level in peripheral venous blood, as well as arterial blood intraoperatively. Results . Statistically significant differences in the D-dimer level were established depending on the presence or absence of early postoperative complications. Conclusions . The intraoperative D-dimer level in arterial blood has a predictive ability in relation to the development of early postoperative complications.

Zaitseva et al. (2023) conducted an observational in Aortoiliac segment lesions (aneurysmal or occlusive-stenotic) (n=89). Intraoperative arterial blood D-dimer level >2056 mcg/L vs. Intraoperative arterial blood D-dimer level ≤2056 mcg/L was evaluated on Early postoperative complications (in patients with occlusive-stenotic lesions) (p=0.001). Intraoperative arterial blood D-dimer levels >2056 mcg/L predicted early postoperative complications with 85.7% sensitivity and 85.3% specificity in patients with occlusive-stenotic aortoiliac lesions.
