Autonomic effects on ventricular stability in developing hearts warrant no clinical change; leaves open mechanistic links to sudden infant death.
Removal of vagal or right sympathetic activity increases susceptibility to ventricular fibrillation early in life, whereas left sympathetic removal increases electrical stability, suggesting a potential mechanism for sudden infant death syndrome.
