Adhesive capsulitis (AC), commonly known as frozen shoulder, is a disorder characterized by widespread reduction of humeroscapular motion caused by contracture and loss of compliance of the glenohumeral joint capsule. The signs and symptoms of AC are referred to as Waja-al-Mafasil in Unani literature. Certain regimens including Takmeed, Zimad, Tila, Dalk, Hijama bila Shart, Mahjima Nariya , etc., are used to treat all disorders of the joints and related structures. Pharmacologically, it is being treated with single drugs ( Suranjan, Bozidan, Asgand) or compound formulations ( Habb-e-Suranjan, Habb-e-Asgand, Majoon Chobchini , etc.). This overview provides insight into the holistic approach of Unani Medicine with the objectives of managing Waja-al-Katif through Ilaj bit Tadbeer , which emphasizes a multifaceted approach and prioritizes patient well-being. By focusing on both the physical and holistic aspects of treatment, this method aims to facilitate recovery, enhance quality of life, and empower patients to maintain their health effectively. This review was carried out following a comprehensive analysis of the published articles in reputed journals and the existing classical Unani literature. By addressing the underlying causes and symptoms of the condition, Unani interventions offer potential benefits in alleviating pain, reducing inflammation, improving mobility, and enhancing the overall quality of life for individuals with AC, further research is necessary to scientifically validate the efficacy and safety of Unani interventions in the management of AC.
