The electrical conductivity and absorption spectra of polythiophene irradiated with electron beams as high as 10 8 Rad do not change remarkably. However, they do change remarkably when irradiated in the presence of SF 6 gas, which can be explained in terms of radiation induced doping into polythiophene. The application of this phenomenon as radiation detector or monitor is also proposed.
