Why the study?
To explore anticoagulant usage patterns stratified by stroke and bleeding risk in elderly patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
In elderly Japanese patients with NVAF, high bleeding risk is associated with lower overall anticoagulant use, higher warfarin use with poorer time in therapeutic range, and lower DOAC use compared to those with low bleeding risk.
Anticoagulant selection patterns by risk in elderly NVAF remain variable; leaves open whether current choices optimize net clinical benefit.
