What are the clinical and echocardiographic predictors of systemic embolism in patients with mitral stenosis?
In patients with mitral stenosis, left atrial thrombus and significant aortic regurgitation are strong predictors of systemic embolism in those with sinus rhythm, while percutaneous balloon mitral commissurotomy is protective in those with atrial fibrillation.
