Experimental study demonstrates a base-promoted synthesis of symmetric bis-triazoles and palladium-catalyzed conversion to triazoloquinolines, highlighting new routes for complex heterocycles.
A method has been developed for facile synthesis of novel symmetric 1,1′‐biaryl‐5,5′‐bis‐1,2,3‐triazoles, using a process involving potassium tert ‐butoxide ( t ‐BuOK) promoted reaction of 1,4‐bis(trimethylsilyl)butadiyne (BTMSBD) with arylazides. The transformation, which takes place by sequential desilylation/cyclization steps, produces the corresponding bis‐1,2,3‐triazoles in moderate to excellent yields. A Pd‐catalyzed intramolecular oxidative CC coupling reaction has been developed to convert the 1,1′‐biaryl‐5,5′‐bis‐1,2,3‐triazoles to the respective 3H ‐bis‐1,2,3‐triazoloquinolines.
