14 patients with idiopathic myo- carditis have been studied, 12 of them at the Children's Hospital, Melbourne, and two in the Hamilton Base Hospital, Victoria. All patients were carefully observed clinically and electrocardiographic and radiological studies of the heart were made in most. In those patients who died routine macroscopic and microscopic examination was made of all organs, and histological study of the heart included sections from both ventricles, auricles, the interventricular septum and valves.
