This morphologic change was first described by Mallory in 1911 (1) and further elucidated by numerous pathologists (2-7). However, the recognition of a clinical syndrome associated with it came much later, Phillips and Davidson (8) first calling attention to "acute hepatic insufficiency of the chronic alcoholic" in 1954. A few publications pertaining to the disorder have appeared since 1954. Such terms as florid cirrhosis...References1.
