In this study, a polyoxometalate-based inorganic–organic hybrid material, Na 4 [Cu 4 (Gly) 2 (HGly) 2 (H 4 W 12 O 42 )]Cl 2 ·20H 2 O ( 1 ) (Gly = glycine), was synthesized via a self-assembly approach by incorporating copper ions and glycine into the paradodecatungstate anion [H 4 W 12 O 42 ] 8– . The structure and properties of compound 1 were systematically characterized using single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry (CV), and UV–vis spectroscopy. Additionally, its anticancer activity was evaluated in vitro against human liver cancer cells (HepG2) and human renal epithelial cells (HEK293T) using the MTT assay, yielding an IC 50 value of 36.232 ± 0.41 μM. The findings demonstrate that compound 1 effectively inhibits the proliferation of liver cancer cells, highlighting its potential as a candidate for polyoxotungstate (POT)-based anticancer drug development.
