The minor rs6749447 allele in STK39 was significantly associated with a reduced systolic (P=0.0005) and diastolic (P=0.0002) blood pressure response to losartan after multiple testing correction.
In the primary cohort, homozygotes for the rs6749447 minor allele had higher serum aldosterone-to-plasma renin activity ratios than non-carriers (P=0.04).
Across both combined cohorts, rs6749447 minor allele homozygotes showed significantly elevated aldosterone levels (P=0.02) and higher aldosterone-to-plasma renin activity ratios (P=0.01).
