Suspension cultures of Vitis vinifera grown in an inducive polyphenol synthesis medium accumulated stilbene glycosides. ( E )-piceatannol (3,5,3‘,4‘-tetrahydroxystilbene) 3- O -β-glucoside ( 2 ) and ( Z )-resveratrol (3,5,4‘-trihydroxystilbene) 3- O -β-glucoside ( 3 ) were isolated from these cells. Their complete structures were determined by 1D and 2D NMR techniques.
