Outcome

Left ventricular remodeling (LVR), defined as an increase > 15% of the end diastolic volume of the left ventricle (LVEDV) six months after the AMI compared to up to seven days from the event.surrogate

The 3D echocardiographic sphericity index measured early after STEMI is associated with and may help predict left ventricular remodeling at 6 months.

Limitations

Small sample size
Exclusion of patients with inadequate echocardiographic image quality
Heterogeneity of infarction locations (different vascular beds involved)
Short follow-up period (6 months)
