An improved method for the microbiological assay of vitamin B12 in serum using Lactobacillus leichmannii as test organism was developed in this department (Spray, 1955) and has been in regular use for the past three years. Although no new facts have been discovered, results have been obtained from patients with a variety of conditions. It is felt that a summary of these results may be of interest, illustrating the value of the method in diagnosis and confirming and extending observations already published. Methods
