Ageneral watershed runoff and sediment transport model is described that may be used in designing, analyzing and managing small urban as well as agricultural watersheds. It is an extension of a model first developed by Rovey, et al. (1977) and includes com-ponents for infiltration, surface and channel flow, sedi-ment transport and flow-routing through ponds. The model is demonstrated by simulating recently ob-tained data collected on an experimental watershed, established on a reclaimed stripmine area in Western Colorado. Preliminary validation, using one degree of freedom and two recent storm runoff events, was ex-cellent. Comparison with snowmelt runoff data indicated that the development of more appropriate sediment transport relationship are needed for steep watersheds with fine sediment. Examples of application of the model to surface treatment evaluation and settling pond design are given and discussed.
