A cryostat is described which was designed primarily for electrical resistivity studies on metals quenched by the helium II technique of Rinderer and Schultz. Prequench annealing in various atmospheres, quenching and recovery measurements between 4.2°K and the quenching temperature can be performed in one apparatus without need for remounting the specimen.
