Why the study?
Stroke incidence has increased in individuals under 64 years of age, and controlling hypertension to prevent stroke remains elusive under updated blood pressure guidelines.
In a predominantly white, educated, and high-income cohort of hypertensive adults aged 35-64, 83% had uncontrolled blood pressure, with women showing lower medication compliance and lower perceived risk of future stroke.
