An apparatus for measuring the coefficient of intrusion is described in which hydrogen and helium condensation pumps are employed to provide an ultra-high vacuum. The coefficient of intrusion for 35 keV H 1 + ions was found to be 0.93 for intruded ion densities in the region 10 18 - 2 × 10 19 and was independent of the number of intruded ions.
