Why the study?
The study was designed to evaluate the association of the systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) and systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) with the clinical and pathological features and progression of diabetic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Population
303 patients with T2DM, including 43 with biopsy-confirmed DKD
Comparison
T2DM vs early DKD vs clinical DKD across SII and SIRI levels
Design
Observational cohort study

SIRI/SII should not yet guide DKD care in type 2 diabetes; hypothesis-generating and requires prospective validation.
