Video-assisted port-access surgery is a feasible approach for the emergency removal of a massive left ventricular mass, which in this case was confirmed to be a thrombus.
A 52-year-old male with congestive cardiomyopathy was admitted for stroke. Transthoracic echocardiography revealed a massive left ventricular mass suspected as a tumor (Fig. 1 + Video 1). Mass suspected as a tumor demonstrating apical tumor and intraventricular mobile mass. The patient underwent emergency surgery for mass removal by video-assisted port-access surgery (Fig. 2 ). Image of the thrombus via port-access before removal. Histological analysis demonstrated thrombus but no tumor.
