Absrruct-A detailed analysis of the flash mode of operation of the gap-coupled surface-acoustic wave Schottky diode storage correlator is presented. A new circuit model describing the device physics is given which is used to analyze both the storage and the read-out processes. The analysis of the writing process leads to a Bernoulli type of differen. tial equation which, when solvea and with the voltage dependence of the diode capacitance included for the fist time, yields the expression for the charge stored in the diode. The calculated predictions of the device performance using this model are in excellent agreement with experimental data.
