A model is developed which relates critical current densities Jc in YBaCuO ceramics to the geometrical size of the sample via the motion of flux lines. Flux lines move with velocity v when the Lorentz force FL acting on them exceeds their pinning force Fp. The model further explains the temperature dependence of Jc and the voltage-current characteristic U(J,T) with temperature T as parameter.
