The relation of liver kynureninase to tryptophan metabolism in pyridoxine deficiency

BRANCHED-CHAIN FATTY ACIDS. 2 379 StAllberg-Stenhagen (1950) hassynthesized (-)-21-methyltricosanoic acid (M]D, -13) by a route which shows that its methyl group is D-oriented in terms of the Fischer convention.The (+)-acid would therefore have [M]D + 13, and would be the 21 L-methyl acid.The (+ )-ante-i8o acids, the rotations of which are collected in Table 1, are therefore L-methyl acids as shown by formula I. SUMMARY The (+ )-ante-i8o-alkanoic acids are represented by the Fischer projection formula I, and may be termed L-methyl-substituted acids.
