Over the years, numerous surgical techniques have been introduced to correct labial, gingival recession defects. Aesthetic concerns are usually the reason to perform these procedures. Clinical studies have evaluated many of the techniques. The depths of the defects have been measured before surgery and at a follow-up examination after 6 months or later. Re-sults in terms of mid-surface root coverage have been expressed in millimeters and as the percentage of original defect that has been covered.
