A simple theory of transient nonlinear pyroelectric current response in monoaxial ferroelectrics with second order phase transition is given. It was established that:(a) At temperatures below the transition point the nonlinear pyroelectric current being a second order contribution to the total pyroelectric current is proportional to square of incident power density W0, square of duty factor τ/T, square of the pyroelectric coefficient λ and inversely proportional to square of heat diffusion coefficient k, and spontaneous polarization Pys.(b) The second order contribution reflects the rate of change of mean square of thermally generated electric field while the zero order pyroelectric response reflects the rate of change of the mean temperature of the sample.(c) The mutual ratio of the second and zero order contributions to total pyroelectric current increase with rising of temperature.
