Approximately 10 instances have been reported in the literature as autopsied cases.1, 2, 3, 4 When death has been attributed to fatal systemic panniculitis, the necropsy has revealed widespread involvement of adipose tissue, including the panniculus and mesenteric, omental, retroperitoneal adipose tissue and mucosa of the intestines. Systemic fatal panniculitis has been recently reviewed by Steinberg,1 and an interesting review of the Weber-Christian syndrome in general has recently been published by Beerman.6This case is...Bibliography1.
