Theoretical analysis reveals fundamental interactions emerge across distinct coarse-graining scales from a single ontological substrate, indicating unified field theories must be multi-scale.
The unification condition of the universe is conventionally sought as a single quantum field theory valid at the Planck scale. This paper proves that such a condition is unattainable within the phenomenological layer because the five fundamental interactions each possess distinct coarse-graining characteristic scales L_c^* at which they emerge from the first-space meta-field ξEO. A rigorous six-entry boundary table is derived: gravity at L_c^* ~ LPlanck (as emergent geometry, not a quantum field), electromagnetism at L_c^* ~ λ_C, magnetism at L_c^* ~ lstring(Φcrit/|∇Φ_G|)^β, weak force at L_c^* ~ m_W⁻¹, strong force at L_c^* ~ ΛQCD⁻¹, and repulsion at L_c^* ~ LHubble. The true unification is ontological— all interactions are projections of a single substrate Ψ_I⁽⁰⁾—rather than phenomenological. This rewrites the unification condition from single-scale quantum Lagrangian'' to multi-scale coarse-graining emergence of one ontological field.''
