Computational simulation demonstrates theoretical E×B drift velocities in ITER plasma conditions, highlighting a robust model for evaluating plasma edge transport and magnetic confinement.
This paper presents a numerical study of charged particle dynamics under the influence of crossed electric and magnetic fields (E×B drift) tailored to the operational parameters of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). A geometric computational model implemented in MATLAB was used to investigate the helical trajectories and guiding center displacements of both electrons and deuterium ions. The simulation results demonstrate a strict match between the numerically obtained cross-field drift velocities and theoretical plasma physics predictions (v_d = E/B), independent of the particle's mass and charge sign. This simplified yet physically realistic approach provides a solid foundation for evaluating local transport phenomena and plasma edge instability confinement in magnetic traps.
