Some observations on the spectrum of magnesium burning in air have been made with a grating spectrograph of dispersion similar 7.4 A./mm Wave-length data are given for a weak sequence of bands with head at about 4820 A. and of a complex system in the region 3600-4000 A. from measurements of plates taken in a first and second order respectively. The λ4820 sequence may possibly form part of the well-known green system of MgO. The stronger bands of the near ultra-violet system have also been photographed in absorption.
