This paper reports the findings of study which had as its purpose the identification of key factors used by the students of a particular institution to assess their fir into the unversity. Applying the concepts of cognitive dissonance, the research found that perceptions of student/institutions fit are related to key attribute and aspirational variables. By identifying these variables, the enrollment manager is given information which can be proactively used to increase the probability that the student's expectations prior to matriculation are realized once they are on campus.
