We consider an integrated voice/data multiplexer, in which data packets are buffered under the control of an ARQ retransmission scheme, while voice signals are transmitted in real time. To investigate the performance of such a system, we use a Markov renewal sequence model and calculate mean data packet delay. Analytical results are validated by simulation.
