Theoretical analysis proves a composition and back-reflection theorem in formal metatheory, revealing structural limitations in universal discriminative systems.
This publication is the eighth and capstone study in the formal Evoluist research programme. It completes the sequence initiated by The Evoluist Theorem: Formal Core (I), extended through the distributed and indexed coordination analysis of Indexed Evaluative Architectures and Terminal Coordination (II), the conditional global structural alternative established in The Strong Evoluist Structural Alternative (III), the claim-obligation completeness result proved in The Semantic Obligations of Strong Universal Claims: An Evoluist Theorem of Audit-Domain Completeness (IV), the five-checkpoint audit completeness theorem established in The Structural Audit of Strong Universal Claims: An Evoluist Theorem of Five-Checkpoint Completeness (V), the source-to-target representation theorem developed in Faithful Representation of Finitely and Generatively Specified Discriminative Theories: An Evoluist Theorem of Structural Fidelity (VI), and the source-first claim-regimentation theorem established in Regimentation of Strong Universal Claims: An Evoluist Theorem of Claim-Content Fidelity (VII). Article VIII addresses the remaining composition and back-reflection problem. Its purpose is to determine whether the previously proved modules can be composed on one exact dependent witness thread without strengthening upstream definitions, identifying independently quantified witnesses, changing source readings, switching faithful representations, or silently converting target-side conclusions into source-side conclusions. Two distinct source routes are retained throughout. Route B begins from an already admissible same-reading regimentation; Route E constructs an admissible regimentation on the specification-bearing reading. Both routes pass through the same Article VI representation instance and the exact Article VII regimented target token before entering the Article III structural-alternative machinery. On the target side, the paper proves a lean direct recomposition of the Article III adequacy surfaces. In the ordinary classical proof-layer metatheory relative to the explicitly frozen background B+CC+ABR2, where ABR2={A14,…,A21}∪{A23,…,A40}, a faithfully represented architecture carrying a regimented strong universal claim yields the target alternative: positive collapse or one of five substantive structural limitations. This recomposition shows that AuditComplete⁵/A13 is conclusion-relative redundant for this controlling route once the published component adequacy schemas are retained directly. Articles IV and V remain valid modular results and continue to supply local resources where an individual back-reflection branch genuinely requires them, most notably the hybrid L4 route. The limitation branches are reflected back to the source only through exact positive witnesses. For L1, L2, L3 and L5, Article VIII extracts the actual target witness generated by the selected derivational branch and then distinguishes VI_CORE provenance from specification-active VII_SPEC or MIXED provenance. The direct VI_CORE route requires the corresponding VITraceCore certificate; specification-active witnesses require the branch-local VIII-P3 back-reflection condition. L4 is strictly stronger: before provenance is considered, VIII-P2 must establish an Article-VI-strength continuation/no-settlement witness. Failure of these local reverse bridges is not promoted to a new structural limitation. It is recorded instead by the exact transport outcomes TargetL4Unreflected or TargetSpecUnreflected_i. The collapse branch is treated independently. Article VIII retains the actual Local Collapse Witness, projects the exact five-premise T4 occurrence, proves CollapseImageReady, applies the frozen Article VI collapse back-package, and then imposes the downstream same-pair source-coherence condition VIII-P4. The resulting representation-class analysis distinguishes one authorised successful source reflection from failure across the entire authorised class. When a successful route exists, true proof-object erasure removes representation-, route-, and target-specific data from the retained witness and yields the source-only metatheoretic incompatibility record SrcT4ConflictCore. This conclusion is deliberately weaker than SrcCollapse, source-theory contradiction, triviality, or object-logic explosion. The final result is therefore a four-theorem family. The Qualified B-route and E-route Composition Outcome Theorems, QB and QE, yield one of thirteen outcome families: five positive source limitations, SrcT4ConflictCore, or seven exact transport/back-reflection fallbacks. Under exact positive coverage of the actually selected branch on the same dependent witness thread, the Strongest Covered B-route and E-route Source-Positive Composition Theorems, SB and SE, contract the conclusion to six source-positive families. The stronger S-family is not obtained by simply deleting the fallback disjuncts from the Q-family; it requires additional branch-local evidence tied to the branch actually selected by the proof. The article does not claim an unconditional six-way source theorem from the broader QB/QE source-entry conditions alone. It introduces no sixth limitation class L6, does not identify the Article VI claim image with the Article VII final regimented token, does not claim semantic exclusivity among collapse and limitation outcomes, and does not infer T⊢⊥, source triviality, or unrestricted inconsistency from the collapse route. Nor does it claim that every possible theory or universal claim belongs to the required representation and regimentation classes. Exact composition reveals, rather than removes, the back-reflection boundary. The formal Articles I–VIII constitute one component of the wider Evoluist project. Their role is not to derive the complete philosophy of Evoluism mathematically, but to provide a formal backbone for one of its central anti-totalising constraints: finite discriminative forms may remain determinate, explanatory, and action-guiding without thereby acquiring final theoretical possession of Reality as a whole. The Zenodo record contains a single canonical Complete Edition. Part I presents the publication-facing composition theorem and its principal proof architecture. Part II, Technical Supplement (Appendices A–N), is the normative mathematical record and contains the complete source lock, witness and provenance types, direct target recomposition, limitation- and collapse-side back-reflection proofs, branch-completeness argument, source-outcome assembly, adversarial separation models, dependency-minimality analysis, theorem registries, concordance tables, and publication-integrity record. Part III, Related Work and Intellectual Positioning, is non-normative with respect to the proofs and positions the formal programme in relation to Kantian critiques of totalisation, Gödelian incompleteness, Tarskian semantic limits, Lawverean fixed-point structure, Priest’s closure analyses, Putnam’s model-theoretic arguments, Rescher’s critique of perfected science, and recent discussions of logical limits on a Theory of Everything.
