A new synthesis of iridabenzene species involves the coupling of MeCHCH2 with iridacycles 1 and 2. Surprisingly, the structure of the coupling product of the iridacyclopentadienes with propene (3 or 4) is highly susceptible to the nature of the substituents in the starting metallacycle.
