Qualitative limitations were presented for a formation reaction of a series of bridged compounds from ketones and malononitrile catalyzed with potassium fluoride‐alumina in acetonitrile [1]. The bridged com pounds were obtained from only unhindered alkyl methyl ketones. The compounds released hydrocarbon to give pyridine derivatives.
