Implication

May support non-invasive differentiation of ARVC/D from RVOT VT; hypothesis-generating and requires prospective validation.

Structured PICO

Can specific electrocardiographic indices differentiate arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy from idiopathic right ventricular outflow tract tachycardia in patients presenting with LBBB-pattern ventricular tachycardia?

P
Population
59 patients presenting with ventricular tachycardia (LBBB morphology) diagnosed with either arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia (ARVC/D, n=29) or idiopathic right ventricular outflow tract tachycardia (RVOT VT, n=30) admitted between 2003 and 2012.
O
Outcome
Differences in electrocardiographic indices (mean QRS duration in V1-V3, QRS difference in right and left precordial leads, S wave upstroke duration, JT interval dispersion, QRS and JT interval of right to left precordial leads)surrogate

Specific ECG indices, including QRS duration and JT interval dispersion, can help non-invasively differentiate ARVC/D from benign RVOT VT in patients presenting with LBBB-pattern ventricular tachycardia.
