Steric congestion of reaction centers produces late transition states in organic reactions. Intrusion of steric hindrance induces a stronger pressure acceleration. Some relevant examples are given: Menshutkin, Wittig, Michael, Henry reactions, cycloadditions. The pressure parameter is, therefore, of high value in the synthesis of crowded molecules via sterically demanding reactions.
