May heighten stent thrombosis risk; hypothesis-generating for heparin formulation effects.
Does intracoronary stenting with full anticoagulation increase platelet responsiveness compared to elective angioplasty?
Intracoronary stenting with conventional anticoagulants (heparin) significantly increases platelet responsiveness to ADP, which may explain the increased rate of stent thrombosis and suggests unfractionated heparin stimulates platelets more than low molecular weight heparin.
