Left ventricular papillary fibroelastoma identified as a rare source of cerebral infarction.
Why the study?
Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma is histologically benign but can cause serious symptoms depending on its location, size, and motility.
Case Report (n=1)
Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma, though histologically benign, can cause cerebral infarction depending on its location and motility.
CPF in LV trabeculae may cause cerebral embolism; extends known sites but remains hypothesis-generating.
Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma (CPF) is the second or third most common primary cardiac tumor. Although histologically benign, it can cause serious symptoms depending on its location of occurrence, size, and motility. Herein, we report CPF in the left ventricular trabeculation as a potential cause of cerebral infarction.

Im et al. (2021) conducted a case report in Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma and cerebral infarction (n=1). Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma in left ventricular trabeculation was evaluated on Cerebral infarction. A cardiac papillary fibroelastoma located in the left ventricular trabeculation was reported as a potential cause of cerebral infarction.
